Worldwide Windows 2000/Exchange 2000 Deployment

An international software development company needed a corporate-wide e-mail system and directory service.  Mercurion Systems' CTO, Scott Lowe, led the team (which also included members of the company's IT department) which designed the DNS namespace, Active Directory structure, and Exchange routing topology.  Scott also led the implementation of that design, starting with the corporate headquarters in Raleigh, NC.  At last check, the Active Directory tree contained a root domain in the US and child domains in England, Germany, Czechoslovakia, Russia, and the Netherlands.  At the same time that Windows 2000 and Active Directory were being deployed, we were also deploying Exchange 2000 in these same locations and linking the Exchange 2000 routing groups via SMTP.  We also deployed Exchange 2000 instant messaging to facilitate communication and collaboration between locations, particularly between the US and Russia.  (This project spawned this case study as a result.)
