Windows 2000 and Active Directory MigrationAlso for the same local municipality, Mercurion Systems' Scott Lowe was one of two lead engineers assisting in the replacement of a number of Windows NT 4.0-based servers with new Windows 2000-based servers connected to a Fibre Channel-based storage area network (SAN). Scott assisted in the installation of all 26 servers (a variety of Compaq density-optimized DL servers, including DL360, DL380 G2, and DL580 servers), a Compaq StorageWorks disk array, and three Fibre Channel SAN switches. In addition, he led the migration from their existing Windows NT-based domain to Active Directory, which was also contingent upon the installation of the new equipment. Finally, Scott worked closely with in-house IT staff to migrate applications from the old Windows NT servers to the new Windows 2000 servers; these applications included a mission-critical Oracle database application on a cluster, legacy billing applications, and other internal applications.
