Windows NT/Exchange 5.5 to Windows 2000/Exchange 2000 Migration

In this migration for a manufacturing firm, Mercurion Systems designed and led the migration from a Windows NT 4.0 complete trust domain model with three separate Windows NT domains to a Windows 2000-based Active Directory tree.  At the same time, we also designed and led the migration from the company's existing Exchange 5.5 organization to Exchange 2000.  Throughout both migrations, coexistence was paramount and downtime had to be minimal.  In conjunction with the customer's IT team, we implemented a brand-new DNS infrastructure on Windows 2000-based servers, migrated the existing Windows NT domains through in-place upgrades or the use of the ClonePrincipal tool, used the Active Directory connector to keep Active Directory and Exchange 5.5 synchronized, and switched Exchange 5.5-based mail servers for Exchange 2000-based mail servers.  In the end, the organization ended up with an Active Directory tree consisting of three domains (one root domain and two child domains) and an Exchange organization with three administrative groups and four routing groups (one administrative group contained two routing groups).
